Sal Hanvey has been singing from she was a baby. Her mother said that before her first birthday she was humming the soundtrack to Star Wars. Her parents were both musical and for many years were in a folk band, played live and recorded albums. Even when her mother was pregnant with Sal, she herself was on the live music circuit. So it was only natural for Sal to take to the stage herself as she was in fact on the stage before she was even born, not to mention that her brother is also a live, active musician/ songwriter, so there is no doubt that it’s in her blood.
Sal Hanvey who grew up in N. Ireland in a musical environment has since spent her time honing her song writing skills while paying her dues to the live music circuit. She has performed in the UK, Ireland, many European countries, Canada & the USA, playing with people like Devon folk songwriter, Seth Lakeman, and Aaron Liddard, who plays sax for Amy Winehouse and also supported Arthur Brown.
Sal Hanvey has played with some world class renowned and well known musicians such as, Simon House, (Mike Oldfield, Hawkwind and David Bowie), Aaron Liddard, (Amy Winehouse, Prince, Bob Geldof), who has Sax to the album. Ernie McMillan, (a well established guitar luthier Avalon Guitars), who is lending bass guitar to the album. Michael Sands, (Son of Ben Sands from the famous Sands Family), offering his rhythm guitar expertise to the mix and well renowned Rowan Young adding his intense rhythmical Djembe and Bodhran.
